Privacy policy

Meterous for Safari · effective 15 September 2026

The short version: Meterous collects no personal data. It has no servers, no analytics, no accounts and no tracking. Everything it reads stays on your Mac.

What Meterous accesses

Meterous reads your usage limits from claude.ai: the same numbers shown on claude.ai's Settings → Usage page. To do that it makes two kinds of request to claude.ai, using the login already present in Safari:

• a request for the list of organizations on your account, to find the one whose limits apply to you; and
• a request for that organization's current usage.

Safari attaches your login to those requests the same way it does when you visit claude.ai yourself. Meterous never reads, stores or forwards your password, login cookies or session tokens, and it never reads your conversations.

Meterous runs only on claude.ai. It has no access to other websites.

What Meterous stores

Meterous keeps a small amount of data in Safari's local extension storage on your Mac: the percentage used and reset time for each meter, the time of the last refresh, the last error code (if any), and an internal identifier for the organization it reads usage from. Nothing is stored anywhere else. Removing the extension deletes it.

Where your data goes

Nowhere except claude.ai itself. Meterous sends no information to the developer or to any third party. It contains no analytics, crash reporting or advertising code.

Diagnostics you choose to share

If you ask for help, you can copy a diagnostics summary from the popup and send it yourself. It contains the extension version, your Safari and macOS versions, the meter percentages and reset times, timing information, and error codes. It does not contain your name, email, account identifiers or anything from your conversations.

Third-party services

claude.ai is operated by Anthropic, PBC. Your use of claude.ai is governed by Anthropic's own terms and privacy policy. Meterous is not affiliated with Anthropic.

Children

Meterous is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
